Lexify Lite Approved for the App Store

June 23, 2009
Yesterday afternoon the free version of Lexify was approved for the App Store. Like the full version, it took nine days. The only difference with the Lite version is that it only has a fraction of the Latin roots that the full version has. But since the functionality is exactly the same, I guess it makes sense that it would take the same amount of time for Apple to review it. Oh, and Lexify Lite had 43 downloads (39 from the US store, 4 from Canada) on its first evening in the App Store. Cool!

First Revelary iPhone App Approved by Apple

June 22, 2009
Nine days after submitting Lexify, my first iPhone app, I received an email today from Apple that the app has been approved--on a Sunday even! The app's status changed from the "in review" yellow light to the pleasant "ready for sale" green light. I did end up going back to change my App Store images to jpegs a few days ago just to make sure that wouldn't cause any problems. So Revelary now officially has a released product! I added it under the Education category in iTunes for a price of $4....

PhoneGap Button Click Speed

June 20, 2009
It's been a week now and my iPhone app still shows "in review" on the iTunesConnect site. Good news about PhoneGap though--I found out you can use the onTouchStart event instead of onClick to get buttons to respond immediately. Here's a link to the PhoneGap Google Group post for more info.

Started Playing With PhoneGap for iPhone

June 18, 2009

I tried out the sample PhoneGap project in the iPhone simulator and on my iPod Touch. While the interface looks fine, I was a little disappointed. When you touch a button on the app, there's a very noticeable delay (maybe half a s...

Waiting for App Approval

June 15, 2009
Two days after submitting my first iPhone app to the App Store, my financial contract has been changed to "contract in effect". Both Lexify and Lexify Lite show "in review" for their status but this is no surprise. I'm expecting the review process to take about a week.

Submitting an iPhone app to the iTunes App Store

June 12, 2009
In August 2008 I decided I wanted to teach myself to develop software for the iPhone with my limited amount of free time. I decided to buy a MacBook which happened to be the first non-Microsoft computer I had ever owned. After nine months and $100 for an iPhone developer license, I finally have something to show for it--assuming of course that my app (Lexify) gets approved by Apple for distribution on the iTunes App Store.

As I was doing the actual app submission last night and today, I decide...
